Sen. Joe Lieberman, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said it appears there was enough information available to law enforcement, the military and intelligence agencies to raise alarm bells about Hasan but no one connected the dots.“Had it been gathered on one desk, someone might have said ‘Nidal Malik Hasan is dangerous,'” Lieberman, a Connecticut independent, told reporters after the briefing.
That resulted in the Patriot Act, which Democrats have been working to weaken ever since.
I have always wondered what the Liberal would say after the next terrorist attack. I guess we’re going to find out.
I usually limit my TV news intake to local news stations. They cover the news I care about and can usually be trusted to be reasonably accurate. Just as long a the news doesn’t concern Public Employees, Union, Illegal Immigrants or other subjects where reporting is circumscribed by Political Correctness.
Today I was on the treadmill and my wife had the flipper. She left to do something and I was presented with ABC News and the shocking story of an innocent Muslim who was driven to gun down 13 people at Ft Hood because he thought some of those soldiers should be prosecuted for War Crimes, and they weren’t.
Major Nidal Malik Hasan’s military superiors repeatedly ignored or rebuffed his efforts to open criminal prosecutions of soldiers he claimed had confessed to “war crimes” during psychiatric counseling, according to investigative reports circulated among federal law enforcement officials.
His supervisor in the Department of Psychiatry, Captain Naomi Surman, told investigators that Hasan raised similar issues with her in conversations in October, according to documents reviewed by ABC News.
Captain Surman told investigators that Hasan had formally contacted military prosecutors to report patients he was evaluating, according to people briefed on the exchange. She said Hasan signed his e-mails with “Praise Be to Allah.” Legal analysts say psychiatrists are strictly bound by the rules of patient confidentiality except in cases where they might become aware of crimes about to be committed.
Captain Surman, who was scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan with Hasan on Nov. 2 told investigators that Hasan had both social and academic issues in his medical training. She said that on one occasion, Hasan told her she was an infidel who would be “ripped to shreds” and “burn in hell” because she was not Muslim.
So you see, those shooting were not the fault of one man, it especially not due to his Muslim faith. It was entirely the fault of the Bush War Machine, and the uncaring attitudes of the American Public. And there were no red flags, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing suspicious.
No one could have see this coming.
(ABC did not make that the theme of their story, but it ran right under the surface.)
The only logical explanation, after examining all the availalbe evidence, is that this was a one-of-a-kind incident. Probably brought on by the constant harassment by Dr. Hasan’s colleagues, who insisted on not being Muslim, Carrie Prejean’s videoes, and his mental anguish over the failure of Sarah Pailin to admit her unworthiness for political office and fade away, allowing the News Media to once again turn their attention to the Greatness of Barrack Obama and the earthly paradise that he will lead us too. A future where no one will insult Muslims by not becoming one or refusing to pay the “jizya” of the dhimmi.
Iowahawk had gathered the first submissions of various newspaper stories in different markets. Most were heavily changed before publication, others not so much.
As usual, Iowahawk provides the answers to questions we never asked, but wish we had.
(Danger! Satire being used on site. May be harmful to those who take themselves much too seriously)
Danquah assumed the military’s chain of command knew about Hasan’s doubts, which had been known for more than a year to classmates at the Maryland graduate military medical program. His fellow students complained to the faculty about Hasan’s “anti-American propaganda,” but said a fear of appearing discriminatory against a Muslim student kept officers from filing a formal complaint.
Unfortunately Political Correctness is very strong in the Military bureaucracy. Any critical statement about a minority runs a real risk of ending the career of the speaker. The officer corps is especially susceptible to this. One mention in an OER is enough to doom an officer. So they’re very risk-adverse.
So, because it is more dangerous to point out shortcomings of protected minorities than it is to just push them off on some other unit, we get this.
From the Mudville Gazette, The Fallen
[I]n recent days a variety of officials involved in the deliberations say that after administration lawyers examined many of the cases, the mood shifted toward using military commissions to prosecute some detainees, perhaps including those charged with coordinating the Sept. 11 attacks.
“The more they look at it,” said one official, “the more commissions don’t look as bad as they did on Jan. 20.”
No doubt they will spin it as a difficult choice forced on them by Bush’s mishandling of the orignal prosecutions. And the media will accept that.
If you don’t know GOD, don’t make stupid remarks!!!!!!!
A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU .
One day the professor shocked the class when he came in..he looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, ‘God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I’ll give you exactly 15 minutes.’ The lecture room fell silent. You coul d hear a pin drop.
Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, ‘Here I am God. I’m still waiting.’ It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him, knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.
The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked, stunned, and sat there looking on in silence.
The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, ‘What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?’
The Marine calmly replied, “God was too busy today protecting American soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.”
Jeffrey Lockwood, professor of entomology at Wyoming University and author of Six-legged Soldiers: Using Insects as Weapons of War, said such Rift Valley Fever or other diseases could be transported into a country by a terrorist with a suitcase.
Look. Osama and Co are terrorists and they are pretty determined. But, let’s face it. We’re not dealing with Lex Luthor here.
WASHINGTON — The Mumbai attacks may have begun with Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistani guerrilla group known in the West mostly for its preoccupation with Kashmir. But by the time the crisis finally ends, foreign policy experts say, the fallout may have expanded to include the United States, NATO, Afghanistan and Iran.
Last time I heard the NYT mention the “domino theory” it was to ridicule anyone that believed in it.
That “domino theory” supposed that if South Vietnam fell to the Communists neighboring countries would follow. But with the fall of South Vietnam only Cambodia and Laos, coincidentally, the only countries that neighbor South Vietnam, fell to the Communists. In Cambodia with disasterous results.
But now, with the attacks in Mumbai, the NYT has discovered a new “domino theory.” One that sees danger to the entire South Asian area from Islamic terrorists. (Though they will not term them as such)
How long do you think it will take for them to realize their error and start backpedalling?
Wikileaks posted documents telling how some of the technology of the bomb disrupting units work. Wikileaks refers to the leaker as a “whistleblower”. He’s not a ‘whistleblower.”
Whistleblowers don’t leak information that will get soldiers and civilians killed.
What this guy is, is a puffed up self-important narcissist that wants everyone to know how smart and caring he is without facing any consequences for his actions. That’s not the action of someone who is doing something they’re proud of. It’s someone who is doing something that he thinks will impress someone. Usually a stripper at the local dive.
He has decided for himself to give out information that will result in deaths. There are a lot of people in the comments making excuses for him and what he did. They say that the technology used in those devices was outdated. But do you know what happens to outdated technology? It’s not sold on e-bay. It’s sold to our allies.
They use it to protect their troops and places where civilians gather, like schools and markets. So he just made it easier to blow up civilians in places like India, Pakistan or Southern Thailand.
So this terrorist accomplice has given out the way to make blowing up civilians easier. Maybe that will impress his stripper girlfriend as much as his twenty for the lapdance. But I doubt it.
He’s probably not bothered at all by the thought. All those people have dark skin and if there’s something American liberals care less about than dark skinned civilians I haven’t found it yet. He probably gets off on the thought of decapitated and maimed dark skinned children.
He’s not a hero, he’s a goat, and the sooner that the military hunt him down and charge him with every crime they can make fit, the better. I always feel better when the no balls, inflated egoes go down. They always whine so well.
But if he is proud of what he has done he will come out of the shadows. He will stand up and let everyone know how right he was to make the decision to give terrorists the means to kill more people.
But he won’t. Because he hasn’t got the guts and never will. And if they do locate him and put him on trial they ought to release the true names of all those who are supporting him. Just so we know who not to associate with.
