Obama Says He’ll Consider A 2008 Bid for The Presidency – washingtonpost.com
Obama is a political phenomenon but hardly a tested politician on the national stage. He has captured the imagination of Democrats and others mostly through a combination of glamour and intellect. He has no legislative record to speak of…
So, his qualifications are that he is a black Democrat that is “articulate”. Meaning that he doesn’t talk like a black man.
Just the usual litany of Democrat talking points. He’s an empty vessel into which all the power players on the Democrat side can pour their views. He’s everything to everyone because no one knows exactly what he is.
President? Well, I suppose that isn’t much more unlikely than Bill Clinton being President. But that didn’t turn out too well, did it? I mean, using the FBI to spy on opponents, bombing civilians, invading countries that didn’t threaten us in any way, massacring American citizens, selling pardons and all that.
I’m currently reading a history of the 1930s, “The Dark Valley“. I am struck by some of the events described and and see a great similarity to the events of present day.
The reaction to Italy’s war in Ethiopia sounds familiar.
“Mussolini convinced timid diplomats that he was “capable at any moment of and act of suicidal but disastrous folly”. So in December 1935, Britain and France made another attempt to buy him off.”
They proposed a “peace plan” which both Emperor Halle Selassie and Mussolini rejected.
“But for Mussolini the abortive plan was a glittering triumph. Hoare and Laval had divided and discredited the European democracies. They had undermined the League [of Nations] and the policy of collective security. They had legitimized Fascist aggression by seeking to reward it.”
It doesn’t sound like the Europeans have changed at all and the UN has proved itself to be nothing more than a successor of the ineffectual League of Nations.
“Damaged by its impotence over Manchuria, the League of Nations, as many had anticipated, was destroyed by its failure over Ethiopia. Like the preserved body of Lenin, it had the appearance of life but tis veins were filled with embalming fluid.”
It doesn’t sound too different than the UN, does it?
What do you think the American military and the government of Sudan have in common?
Neither like bloggers.
Basic Cooking » Blog Archive » Mourning the Demise of Miracle Whip
[T]he old standby you used and loved for decades is no longer the same product. They’ve changed the recipe! If you look on the label, you see the first ingredient is now water, not soybean oil as in the past. Since products (at least in the US) are labeled with ingredients in order of the amount, that means there is now more water than anything else.
I’ve always known there were “Miracle Whip” people. “Miracle Whip” is one of the reasons why I have always shied away from eating at other people’s houses. You never knew whether they were going to serve you the “Best Foods” mayonnaise or try to sneak in the “Miracle Whip”. I grew up in the 1950’s and 60’s and have always associated “Miracle Whip” with the “World Wide Communist Conspiracy”. Notice that they both contain “W” and “M” in the spelling. People who used it were to be regarded with suspicion, like people who drove cars with clocks that worked. There was just something alien about them.
So I am heartened to see that I am no longer in danger of having my taste buds subjected to ungodly salad dressing or having my sandwiches contaminated by nameless foreign tasting condiment.
The Blog | Lyn Davis Lear: Why is the White House so Eerily Confident about the Coming Elections? | The Huffington Post
If for whatever reason we don’t win back Congress in November the only real answer will be to take to the streets.
So if they lose, it can’t possibly be because they didn’t receive enough votes, it could only be because of a plot that rivals the 9/11 conspiracy in its complexity and nefariousness? They have convinced themselves that there are thousands of right-wing conspirators that have infiltrated the thousands of county election offices without anyone being the wiser.
The amount of violence during the last election, campaign offices attacked, windows broken, campaign workers threatened, was shocking. Even in my area, that is pretty :red”, the windows of the Bush campaign office were smashed when the election results were announced.
Back in 1970, I myself was the victim of a bombing by an “anti-war” group. The left’s propensity for violence has never been far from the surface. But this time they have convinced themselves that they are going to win the election and if there is any other result it must be because of fraud and are prepared to resort to violence if the election doesn’t result in the predetermined outcome that they desire.
We are biased, admit the stars of BBC News | the Daily Mail
At the secret meeting in London last month, which was hosted by veteran broadcaster Sue Lawley, BBC executives admitted the corporation is dominated by homosexuals and people from ethnic minorities, deliberately promotes multiculturalism, is anti-American, anti-countryside and more sensitive to the feelings of Muslims than Christians.
One veteran BBC executive said: ‘There was widespread acknowledgement that we may have gone too far in the direction of political correctness.
I don’t think the results would be too different at CNN, NPR or the New York Times. But I’m sure they would cover it up better. They would spout platitudes about respecting everyone’s opinion but end up doing the same things.
In any military unit you can find people with the skills to do damn near anything.
CNN SEES NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US AND TERRORISTS
In a jaw dropping post on Anderson Cooper’s 360 Blog, Executive Producer David Doss reveals that CNN not only doesn’t care if their broadcasts give aid and comfort to the enemy in Iraq, but also that there is no difference between a US sniper and an enemy sniper.
Just as we can see there’s certainly no difference between CNN and terrorist propagandists.
Human species ‘may split in two’
Men and Women. How could you deny that they’re two totally different species.
It would appear that the Democrats have no problem allying themselves with America’s enemies for political gain. At least Teddy Kennedy didn’t. He sees his mission as defeating Republicans and if that means selling out to the Russians, he’s all for that. But these days he’s having to settle for selling out to terrorists instead.
KGB Letter Outlines Sen. Kennedy’s Overtures to Soviets, Prof Says — 10/20/2006
CNSNews.com) – The antipathy that congressional Democrats have today toward President George W. Bush is reminiscent of their distrust of President Ronald Reagan during the Cold War, a political science professor says.
“We see some of the same sentiments today, in that some Democrats see the Republican president as being a threat and the true obstacle to peace, instead of seeing our enemies as the true danger,” said Paul Kengor, a political science professor at Grove City College and the author of new book, The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.
In his book, which came out this week, Kengor focuses on a KGB letter written at the height of the Cold War that shows that Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) offered to assist Soviet leaders in formulating a public relations strategy to counter President Reagan’s foreign policy and to complicate his re-election efforts.
So the Democrats have no problem cooperating with the Iraqi “insurgents” or al Qaeda, just as long as a Republican is defeated. It just doesn’t work every time.
The fact that Teddy Kennedy wanted to cooperate with the KGB shouldn’t be a surprise, Joe Kennedy was a Nazi sympathizer during WWII. He would so obvious that the Brits ask Roosevelt to replace him.
