Courting The Illegal Vote

California lawmakers support `Great American Boycott’

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Some Democratic state lawmakers are planning to walk off the job Monday – just as millions of others around the country are expected to – in support of immigrants’ rights.

The Democratic-controlled Senate, on a party-line vote, approved a resolution supporting the May 1 “Great American Boycott 2006,” which supporters say will serve as a warning to Congress to avoid punitive immigration reform.

I’m sure the millions of poor, uneducated, unskilled citizens of Mexico, living in the slums of Juarez, Tijuana and Mexico City, will be heartened to know that, if only they reach can make it across the border, these politicians will be more than happy to tax their citizens to provide them jobs, housing, medical care, voting rights and education for their children. All the benefits of citizenship with none of the hassle.

There’s what? 5 or 6 million in Mexico alone?

But why stop there? If all the poor in Mexico are welcome, why not the poor of other countries? It would be racist to allow Mexicans unrestricted access to the American dream and deny it to others, wouldn’t it? Let’s invite the poor hardworking people from China, India, South America and Africa while we’re at it.

How many is that? 10 million? 100 million? A billion?

Why not? I’m sure that supporters of illegal immigration will be more than happy to pay for their care.

Maybe that’s why the Hollywood celebrities have been silent on this issue. They’re afraid that the illegals will all show up at their houses.

  1. Should Mexico vote to try become one, or more, of the United States of America? That is, do they share the same ideals?

  2. Some Democratic state lawmakers are planning to walk off the job Monday – just as millions of others around the country are expected to – in support of immigrants’ rights.”

    Hey, silver lining.
